At Island Acupuncture and Herbs all patients receive the most comprehensive treatment possible from a licensed practioner. All treatments are individualized to meet each person's unique health and life circumstances.

First Visit

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) uses a whole body approach believing that the physical body, mind and spirit all play a role in human wellness. In keeping with this approach the first visit includes a comprehensive assessment of all three levels of well being – body, mind and spirit. This assessment includes:

• Completing a Personal Health History form
  
• The taking of three pulses on each wrist. Each pulse reflects the health of a different organ system.
  
• Evaluation of the tongue. Different regions on the tongue and different qualities like coatings, cracks and color tell a story about the health patterns of an individual
• "The four evaluations” are applied – asking, listening and smelling, seeing and touching.

After this detailed holistic assessment Elin will discuss with you her assessment of your condition, a prognosis for how well Chinese medicine will help you and review your treatment options with you.
